Jason Statham's IWC Aquatimer Automatic 2000

That’s 2000 as in 2000 meters which is the water resistance rating on this particular watch which has a 45mm titanium case.   Its titanium case and minimalist design are reminiscent of another iconic though not well known IWC model: the Ocean 2000, created by Porsche Design (Ferdinand A. Porsche) in 1982.  Inside is the IWC (in-house) caliber 80110 with the Pellaton winding system.

Though it appears at a glance that IWC has gone back to an internal bezel design, this is only half true.  In fact, IWC has come up with a new innovation called the IWC SafeDive system which is actually an external/internal rotating bezel system.  It brings the advantages of an internal rotating bezel – protects against external abrasion, dirt, seawater, and so on — with the ease of use of an external rotating bezel. 

The system is “counterclockwise rotation” only, too (something rarely seen in internal bezels).  A sliding system connects the two rings by the rotation of the external bezel being transmitted to the inside of the case and the internal bezel.You may have also noticed what appears to be two “crowns” on the watch — however as I understand it, the left side is actually a differential which allows for interplay of the internal/external rotating bezel construction.

2017 IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic

IWC has released a revised version of its Portugieser Chronograph Classic model.The 2017 IWC Portugieser Chronograph Classic watch, like its predecessor, is powered by the IWC in-house Caliber 89361, with automatic winding, a power reserve of 68 hours, and an integrated chronograph with a flyback function, along with small hacking seconds and a date display. The chronograph readout on the dial is designed for maximum legibility: elapsed hours and minutes are displayed together on the subdial at 12 o’clock. The 6 o’clock subdial displays the running seconds, and the date is in a window at 3 o’clock. The case measures 42 mm in diameter and is water-resistant to 30 meters.

IWC is offering three  versions of the redesigned Portugieser Chronograph Classic: one in an 18k rose gold case and silver-plated dial, with golden hands and appliqués, on a brown alligator leather strap ($20,100); and two models in stainless steel cases with black alligator straps. One has a silver-plated dial with blued hands and appliqués, while the other has a midnight blue dial and rhodium plated hands and appliqués. Both steel models are priced at $12,100.

IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month Review

IWC Ingenieur Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month, a 45mm-wide and 17.5mm-thick piece in 18k red gold, based on what is a truly impressive movement, the IWC Caliber 89800. Built on the same 89000 foundations as the Chronograph Sport, this piece further adds a perpetual calendar to the mix, spiced up with digital indications for the month and date at 2 and 10 o'clock, respectively. A neat design tweak is how the apertures are framed by what appear to be sub-dials – although the functionless tracks on their periphery might come across as a design no-no in the eyes of watch design purists.

From the back, it does look comparable to other 89xxx chronographs, as the perpetual calendar's module has naturally been fitted onto the dial side (otherwise, you'd have all the important displays and indications way below the plane of the dial, not to mention that the chronograph bits reserve the back of the movement anyway). For now, it is available in this version with a silvery-white dial limited to 100 pieces.

IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph Review

IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is available in stainless steel (IW392103) and in red gold (IW392101). This IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph is much larger with its 43mm case diameter and 15.5mm thickness and yet, I would prefer it in red gold. More IWC clone watches.

The dials (silver-plated for the red gold reference and slate-coloured for the stainless steel reference) as as stunning as the case. Beautiful large Arabic numerals, silver or red gold rims around the sub dials and a very nice dark blue toned sub dial at 12 o’clock for the moonphase and hour and minute totalizer. The Santoni strap is very nicely done (I am a huge fan and wearer of their shoes) and the folding clasp also works OK for me on this watch.

Based on a Valjoux 7750 movement, the new Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph relies on an in-house developed movement. Calibre 89630, based on the 89000-chronograph family, is quite different from other perpetual calendar (calibre 52610) movement and the IWC chronograph calibre 89360 had no room for a moon phase at 12 o’clock.

IWC Da Vinci Chronograph Laureus Sport for Good Foundation IW393402 carries a price tag of US$12,700 or S$19,100. At 42mm in diameter and 14.5mm high, the Da Vinci Laureus is a largish watch, on the verge of being too big but not quite. It’s helped by the articulated lugs, which allow it to feel smaller on the wrist, though there is no escaping the height of the case https://www.firstwatchclone.co/.

The case is entirely polished, front, back and even the lugs, which is less interesting than having alternating brushed and mirror finished surfaces. One reason for the height is the domed sapphire crystal, a touch that’s meant to invoke vintage watches. The onion-shaped crown is probably meant to do the same, and it suits the overall design. Both chronograph pushers also have onion-shaped rings at their base, presumably to match the shape of the crown. But the buttons are not screw-down pushers, making the rings perhaps unnecessary aesthetic additions.
