The prototype of the IWC BIG PILOT was born during World War II. During World War II, IWC served the German Air Force and in 1940 designed the 52 T.SC pilot watch with the stop-second function for the German Air Force. This table is the prototype of BIG PILOT. The 52 in the model means that the case diameter is 52 mm. Although the size of this watch is large, it is very light, only 183 grams. However, after the birth of 52 T.SC, the United States and Uzbekistan have drawn a line and turned to serve the British Air Force.

After the end of World War II, the PILOT watch was designed for civilian use from the military, and the handsome and charming BIG PILOT became popular. BIG PILOT generally has a matt black dial with high dial contrast, large digital scale, clear and easy to read pointer scale, eye-catching luminous function, and iconic large crown design, as well as a special logo at 12 o'clock. These features help the pilot to read and adjust time more easily during flight.
